but males are more dominant in the games and are therefore a little more difficult to classify.

There's also more males too, so the sheer amount doesn't help any either. Unless, you meant dominant in terms of being in the majority.

I wonder where Baralai would fit...eheeheheh.

Color me odd, but I usually tend to prefer male leads, except in FFX-2, where the female leads suited me just fine. *shrugs*

Another odd thing is that these cliches don't seem to apply to any other game series. Not that I've seen at least.

There have been some rumors going around that Vaan and Ashe are in fact brother and sister. Ifthis relationship turns out to be the case, there is a possibility that both will share in the lead character role. It may be pre-mature to say that, even based on the rumor that the two are siblings, but it doesnt sound like such a bad idea.

It also makes the sex scene between them incredibly disturbing.

You're right, God, it's not such a bad idea. I also heard that love wasn't such a big thing either. This is a good thing. Cheesy

I wouldnt mind if they have a suttle love theme (much like FF7's), but I dont want it to go as far as FF8 and FFx/x-2 did.

I think the best Final Fantasy love story was in FF9.  It was there but it didn't detract or unnecessarily over power the rest of the story.

Man on the Train : I haven't seen too many around lately. Things have been tough lately for dreamers. They say dreaming is dead, no one does it anymore. It's not dead it's just that it's been forgotten, removed from our language. Nobody teaches it so nobody knows it exists. The dreamer is banished to obscurity. Well, I'm trying to change all that, and I hope you are too. By dreaming, every day. Dreaming with our hands and dreaming with our minds. Our planet is facing the greatest problems it's ever faced, ever. So whatever you do, don't be bored, this is absolutely the most exciting time we could have possibly hoped to be alive. And things are just starting

Yea, it was cute, but I liked FFX best because Tidus/Yuna is one of the few m/f couples in Final Fantasy that I actually LIKE as a couple. I was very touched with these two. Only Locke/Celes did that previously. Heh.

Locke&Celes was so touching because they really weren't a real couple untill the very end. ^^

The first time I've played FFVI, I've guessed that Lock and Ceres would become a couple. It was evident. The way Ceres argued with Lock (I'm not a stupid opera floozy), proved that they would fall in love. That's the same in the movies ^^. You can guess who'll fall in love with you at the beginning.
But I still prefer FFV. That's the best. no love stories, nearly without scenario, then you can imagine, develop a story as you want. FFV is really the best.

But Jojo thinks that FFVI is very good too...

Some new FFXII info has turned up over at The Magicbox, that I thought was pretty interesting.

First of all, the battle system will be reminiscent of Vagrant Story's (yay!), with battles occuring seamlessly in the environment, in a more action-RPG-type system... which means a pretty huge departure from standard FF fare, and which also leaves me a bit confused, because certain screenshots released so far have shown battle scenes that look more, um, traditional.  But, you know, whatever.

Also, while the game shares the same settings as the FF Tactics series, it's otherwise unrelated to it (story-wise, anyway).  Which is good news for me, because I... haven't beaten either of the FFT games yet.  Though I should probably do that anyway...

Oh, and there's also also a new "Gambit" system that The Magicbox tries to explain in some detail, but seems to fail at, because I can't figure out what the hell they're saying.  Hopefully, though, it'll involve transforming the potential energy within playing cards into kinetic energy and then throwing them at people.

Or... not.

-Surtur doubts it, but I mean, come on, that would be awesome.

If that's the case (and I don't doubt you), then perhaps you press a button when you're near an enemy group to bring up a traditional-looking HUD.  This would relate to how you'd press circle (or was it X?) in VS when you were close to an enemy and then make your attack choices.

If so, then that would be awesome.

Just like the combat in Vagrant Story, but with 3 characters.

This sounds fucking awesome.  Finally, a Final Fantasy game that I'm really looking forward to.

Okay, here's my take on this "Gambit" thing.  It sounds kind of like equipping GF's in FFVIII - they give some special commands, but depending on how much they like you (or in this case, you like the main character?) they might not obey.  Something similar to that.

*dies laughing at Sutur*

That would be too amusing to see Gambit randomly pop up in a FF game and just stare down the enemies.

...closest would be Setzer and uh, the lady luck dress spheres in throwing cards sense...

*mumbles and just runs out oxygen*

Did more information about FFXII come out at E3?  According to a friend, they're incorporated judges, bangaa, and viera into the game (thus the FFTA elements comment), and she said that it wouldn't be so bad if they lost the main characters.  I don't know what prompted that comment, I'd have to ask.
