RAWS are out for the first episode of Xenosaga The Animation. it opens with the Woglinde recovering the Zohar Emulator and ends when KOS-MOS awakens during the Gnosis attack.

the discovery of Zohar intro from the game seem to be either skipped or saved for later and the pacing is alot tighter than this part of the game. they also didn't show people turning into pillars of salt when the Gnosis came through the walls and there is no blood when they kill the realiens. KOS-MOS wore some weird looking armor to cover her appearance in the Encephalon training sequence (probably to give her a surprise appearance during the Gnosis attack), she doesn't have that coffin but is sleeping in that armor which was pretty weird.

the whole thing felt like what Episode I could have been like had Namco drastically adapted Takahashi's script for Episode I (like they did with Episode II) because there are some deviations from the game. i need to see the sub but i think they gave some of the dialogue between Shion and MOMO to this new Realian character and [!--SPOILER BEGIN--][div onClick=\"openClose(\'ba2c97b3668543bac713d1b503edb0b1\')\" style=\"font-weight: bold\"]Click For Spoiler[/div][div id=\"ba2c97b3668543bac713d1b503edb0b1\" style=\"display:none\"][!--SPOILER END--]a reason for Shion to hate Albedo more since he makes a much early appearance here and i think he is about to kiddnap this Realian girl[!--SPOILER DIV--][/div][!--SPOILER DIV--].

the music is new but pretty much keep up the Xenosaga mood pretty well. i'm sure this series can attract people who have never heard of Xenosaga, however i don't think the anime offers much to the already established fans. it felt like they only changed things around for the sake of changing some things around. i think it will follow the game pretty close and apparently it's only 13 episodes long.

now i'm just waiting for the sub...

Just found out that a group (or two) are working on it right now. I'll check their site in about a week to see if they have the first one up by then. @_@

However, I'm very interested in how this version turns out. I thought the whole Kos-Mos armor was weird, but it does make a very dramatic appearance.

...I thought it was weird that Allen looked like he was a bit more beefy in appearance. XD

Well I just finished Downloading the Anime...Haven't seen it yet though...Thanks Kia, for the link....I'll post my opinion once I saw it.

I shared the file in the hub for easy download.

p/s: I just started playing the game again (haven't finished it yet) now that I have setup my HD Loader to work...My PS2 lense is too old to read a DVD9 Disc...That is why I turn to HD Loader...

well, the second Episode took an interesting turn.. too bad the animation quality went down

I didn't see anything noticable with the proportions like with the first episode in the realiean scene. (Everyone had kinna big legs in that scene for a while.)

I guess I'm not looking closer or something. I also noticed that Allen seems to be less beefy looking like he did earlier.

i thought the battle between KOS-MOS and the Gnosis looked pretty bad in this.. i mean look at her athrobatics.. and that kick that follows, and the cheesy way the Gnosis "explodes"..

Yeah. It looked like she barely hit them at all... wonder what 3's gonna be like. o_O

And that some of the proportions were little eehy in the acrobatics... wonder why I didn't notice that sooner?

OK; now I saw the first episode and to me it was somewhat disappointing. While the character designs are good (Nobuteru Yuuki is excellent artist), the opening, animation and music are just lacking something.Still, I think I'll keep watching the series. ^^;

Shi-fa dropped Xenosaga because they had too much trouble translating the first episode... ah well.

So it's really just AnimeYuki who is doing it now.

seriously though, if you don't have a PS2 and want to experience Xenosaga you're much better off downloading Xenosaga Program X. i hear they are planning to make a new capture of the game.

I wanted to check out this Program X thing anyway.

And could you specify what you particulary dislike about the designs? I don't think that they are perfectly transferred from the games either (a pity that Tanaka isn't working for the anime - but that's true for other things as well), but they still look more or less accurate. They still could have turned out worse. ... I guess I just don't look too close or I am lacking a good familiarity with the designs (now how could THAT have happened?! oO; ).

On a side note, are the voice actors from the game, or are these different ones?

The voice actors for Shion and Kosmos are the same from what I could tell on the credits. I couldn't find a listing for who did Allen's voice in the games so can't say on him.

I don't have a problem with the animation at all. This is a made-for-TV anime after all. I thought I would from some of the concept art, but it turned out ok. The CG doesn't glare as badly with the animation as in some other series. Only thing that urked me was Allen, I liked him geeky looking.
