this series is so good, why haven't we got a second series of this? more Anime should have this dark atmosphere. imagine something like Sorcerer Hunters but with this shows violence and dark mood... this might be the first time i'm really eager to get ahold of a manga..

well, i've read up to volume 24 of the manga so-far and looking back the anime was somewhat disappointing compared to the manga. i had a bit of trouble getting into Berserk when i first started watching back in 2003 and after reading the manga i know why. the Anime starts right away with the Golden Age arc and Band of the Hawk, we are not getting enough time to get to know the Black Swordsman and Griffith as Femto before we jump back, which makes the first episode seem out of place and useless, and the flashback becomes less interesting because you can't put it into perspective.

and i don't think i need to go into the much complained about ending as well because it is very abrupt.. but then it did make me curious about the manga and so i'll be thankful for that. but now i miss all the awesome bits they cut out like the Black Dogs Knights chasing the Hawks after they rescued Griffith.. and whenever i see Skullknight i think of Odin from FF, heh.. thing i noted was when Skullknight entered the eclipse he seemed to aim for archangel Void of the god hand, which makes me think he has a revenge going on as well....

Franz, are you still into the manga? which is the latest volume? 28?

What the crap, you've just watched it? Yeah thank God you read the manga...we don't need a stupid 2nd season, though its been said that once more manga has been released, then perhaps a 2nd season will come out. Too much has been changed in the anime at the time being, though.

Yes, the latest volume is 28. Hit me up any method you need (aim, pm, email, etc) if you want more volumes. The series is insanely good, and by far my favorite. Muira has just created such a great story.

i've got up to volume 27 by the hawks. i'm getting vol 28 on DC now.

a second series would be interesting but it would probably be butchered if they intend to show it on television. they should've made it something like the Urotsukidoji OVA series without having to edit for television.

i read all of volumes 25-27 yesterday. i'm just a bit confused about what happened after the Tower when Griffith appeared as the white hawk and no longer the demon Femto. i've checked some Berserk boards but they seem just as confused. some believe the new Griffith is Caska's child, some believe Gats is the father. also, the demon child fell out of Caska in the beginning but then the monsters protected Casca all the way up till the White Hawk appeared and now Gats have to protect Caska because the monsters aren't protecting her anymore. what's the reason behind this?

The best places for berserk are skullknight.net and thehawks.org. Skullknight seems to be the leader, most knowledgable, etc. Walter, site webmaster, used to be a member at Z. Smiley

Your theory on the demon child, etc is pretty correct I think. I'm guessing she wasn't protected then because she wasn't with the actual child, but then again she's always had a way of bursting out w/uncontrollable force at strange times.

With the tower, that was a 2nd eclipse that was responsible mostly i think by the Behelit Apostle. That time was the rebirth of Griffith into a human form. The Godhand Femto is no longer around. I think that's the general cycle for Godhands, or at least that they get one "freebie" to human form.

I'm sure you could find out what you want from Skullknight. Just be careful of the forums that are about the translations, because they're probably well into what would be volume 29/30. They're text translations of chapters only, so I don't read them until the Hawks put out scans. (Rereading ALL of berserk is never bad idea, ive done it and it goes fast and reads easy)

thanks for the link, there is lots of info on skullknight.net community. i think it's strange though, wouldn't the other Godhands have a problem with Griffith just leaving the Femto position like that. there seems to be a lot left to tell in Berserk... 27 volumes and we still keep getting more questions than answers...

Well its not like being a Godhand is an affiliation as such...they are aware of his fate and his ultimate power and have been since he was born and received a behelit.  His destiny is different than the rest of the Godhand. That doesn't help much I'm sure Tongue

so i've started re-reading the manga and i'm currently on Volume 14, start of Retribution Arc, Lost Children and i'm wondering if the "Red Lake" is the same place as the Eclipse, aka the leftovers of Band of the Hawk?

because the Vatican knights talk about the "fifth use", would this be the same as the "fifth Eclipse"? if so, then this means there is a prophecy in the hands of the Vaticans that has predicted all the God Hand members rise which happens every 216 year, since the prophecy specifically says the fith "use" brings the "Dark Hawk" which would be Femto. (also because the story then jumps forward 2 years to the present.)

and if Skullknight was branded by Void (and if Skullknight is indeed Gaiseric), then did that happen 864 years ago or 1080 years ago? (the encyclopedia at skullknight.net says that King Gaiseric and his kingdom disappeard 1080 years ago) because the prophecy of the Vatican would put doubt to the theory that there used to be one more member of God Hand.

I'd hafta read how the context of 'red lake' is used, but I think that you're right on that. A lot of the metaphors, relationships, etc are pretty easy to get. I cant recall if the holy knights actually witnessed the aftermath of the 1st eclipse, but they do mention the red lake, in which case the reader thinks 'so its true after all' seeing how the reader knows what they're referring to.

5th use i have no clue about, not now anyway.

I'm not sure if Skully was branded by Void ala Griffith to Guts. The years I'm unsure of as well. As for the Vatican...they're often wrong anyway. Tongue

i'm pretty sure Skullknight was branded by Void, anything else would be less interesting for Miura to come up with. Skullknight has probably since then witnessed the rise of the other members of God Hand as well so he is probably familiar with all of them. but what's up with Conrad and Ubrik? they don't even look human, more like a shrimp and a turtle.

and i was hoping Emperor Ganishka of the Kushan empire would be a rebelling Godhand member... oh well...

...But you gotta like Conrad's frozen ^0^ face. Cheesy

heh none of the Godhand members are very scary.. Conrad's face looks like Giger's atomic children.. Ubrik reminds me of that midget Minister Fost for some reason (probably because of the trickster he seems to be) and Void, interesting as he is, was only scary for a minute until i heard him speak with that lame philosophic narrator voice in the Berserk anime. Slan is probably my favorite (surprise) even though she is stereotypical and predictable as hell, i guess that makes Femto the scariest (at least he was in the anime because he didn't talk and went all tentacle monster on Casca...)

i'll probably have more questions when i read the second eclipse chapter again, hell i didn't even remember there was a second eclipse...

so every single person in Midland had a dream about the White Hawk in volume 17? was this dream ignited by Griffith himself? because some people had a different dream, for example Zodd who dreamt he lost his horn in a battle with the White Hawk (probably the other apostles who later joins the new Band of the Hawk had a similair dream as Zodd), and the King who dreamt of losing Charlotte to the White hawk. those dreams seemed like they were controlled by Griffith since Zodd's dream was almost real with physical consequence... but then the question is, did Griffith also make the dream Guts had, the one about Casca being burned at the stake? it really didn't have anything to do with the White Hawk but maybe Griffith wanted Guts to save Casca?

and i just noticed in that town which suffered from the plague, the rats gathered behind those dead bodies to form the face of godhand Conrad. i wonder why he would want to manifest himself there, was he looking for something or could he be behind the plague and for what purpose?
