I'm getting really bored with the global going down of the quality of spelling with the growth of the internet. Here it's not IM, it's a forum, so you can take your time to re-read your post before posting it, you should not be in such a hurry to post (particulary if this is your first post, it gives the other people a bad impression of you ).

Spelling is one of the basics of written communication. Don't you agree ? Argotic english non-speakers or people not interested in learning that kind of language can't just understand what you have to say .

But, if you follow these little advices, you will maybe be accepted, it would be better for you than just being banned I think .

I know I'm not adding anything interesting or usefull to this conversation, I just want to applaud Mina-chan for actually doing at translation from normal English into dork-speak. I would probably spontaneously combust if I tried to do that. ^^;

Making things usable (in the case of a text, understandable) is one of my engagements as a free software defender and promoter. I have to be understandable by my public (here it was that dork), so I had to put my hands (or at least my (non-overclocked ~~;) keyboard) in the gloomy mucus of dork-language, to make him understand what I meant :D. I often doubt wether they can understand normal people language or if they always communicate that style. They are technology autists, in a certain way, and they don't want to be understanded by people not in their community.

We could interpret that orthographic bad behavior as we could interpret slang or other deformations of the languages, a way to be not understandable by others, but it doesn't matter. They are just dorks, if they don't make an effort, then the "add user to ban list" button is easily reachable.

By the way, his posts were meaningless, and he didn't even try to have a constructed debate and discussion. Just troll-like messages (Wild Arms is crap compared to FF, in substance).

I suppose that he was not the kind of members wanted here.

BTW, TC, could you make an "history" section, talking about the origins of LM.net, and explaining what it is basically ? I'm curious to know the story of the creation of that board. It's that reflexion about what a typical LM.net user should be that created that idea...

I mean, basically, was it a friends board, a game development talking board, or anything else ?

Well, close enough.  This site was one of the "side projects" referenced in the article, regarding TNS.  In fact, there's a really crappy old version of the project/site that never really made it past "template" because Square was putting the kibosh on fansites that used copyrighted images.  Making a VS site with no copyrighted images was painful; despite the fact that I had detailed map of every part of the game, an entire inventory list (as well as analysis), and a bunch of other things, I couldn't show/use half of it without doing a bunch of VS-style art to make it half-way presentable.

Suffice it to say, I wasn't going to spend that much time on it, as I'd already spent a bunch just collecting/creating info.
