Black Lagoon
« on: September 14, 2006, 01:48:37 am »

does anyone else watch Black Lagoon? pretty good stuff. i also enjoyed the manga it was based on. first time i've checked out a manga before an anime was made of it. anyway fans of Cowboy Bebop and GITS:SAC may like this... i know i've enjoyed the first 10 episodes and i hear there is a second season coming Smiley

the series is basically about a japanese guy who used to be employed at a japanese company and one day he got involved with these pirates who sort of kidnap him and eventually he has little choice but to join them when he can't return to Japan...

Definitely one of the better shows I've seen in a while. It ended pretty abruptly so I can't wait for season 2.

Finally saw episode 11 and 12 earlier. I didn't read this far in the manga so i don't know how the end matches up, but it's not really an end.. more like a break before we get another 12 episodes, which seems to be quite common among anime these days (like Gantz, which unfortunately, they fucked up at the end...)

Anyway, the Mad Dog Maid part is awesome Smiley

I've got the whole first season now (12 eps), so hopefully this weekend I'll be able to watch it.

Watched the whole 12 eps, I heard that it was great....Well, I'm not going to write up a review here, but this is just my 2 cents. No spoiler inside for those who are scared of it.

On the plus side, the animation is top notch. and the settings is refreshing.

On the negative side, story is nothing to be proud of. And to me, I think it is just another anime with sexy girl with big guns which tried to be different but failed. Well you get the idea. Anyway, it is quite enjoyable though.

On a brighter note, I absolutely love this sort of new but already in its 24 eps anime called Ouran High School Host Club. It is funny and very refreshing kinda reminds me of Ful Metal Panic Fumoffu!

Rating at anidb is 8.98 which is almost 9. I stumbled upon this anime while trying to find a new anime to watch about 2 mth ago. But, I just started watching it about 2 weeks ago. Just can't seems to have enough of it. Highly reccomended.

my god, that was an annoying anime. i couldn't make it through the second episode. how dare you go off-topic in my Black Lagoon thread...

i can't really recall another anime with a sexy girl with big guns at the moment though. maybe GITS but that's totally different. the whole "chicks with guns" thing is more of a western thing anyway...

So, back when I said I'd watch it that weekend, I uh... didn't.  I don't remember why, but it's been sitting in my queue until this week.  Watched both first and second seasons of it.

Verdict: Pretty awesome.  Great mix of pop-culture references and philosophy.  Thanks for the recommendation!
I'm hoping they really do make a "Third Barrage" this year.

Third Barrage?

It's been years since I saw it now, but not too long ago I kinda felt like re-watching Black Lagoon. If there will be more coming up then I'll re-watch it pretty soon I think. It's been pretty difficult for me to get into new anime these last years and the last two I remember watching through was this and Death Note.

"Third Barrage" looks like it was mentioned in the light novel.  According to the wiki page, it's going to start airing later this year (August?).

Yeah, can't say I've watched too much anime of late, but I've also realized that there's a back log of good stuff I could be watching now.  Catching up Smiley

Yeah, "Third Barrage" was announced a while back actually, I think around when the manga first started coming out in the US (6th volume releases in June).

Revy is love.
