i don't get it. was Rachel a character in the LOST experience? will we ever see this video or know what happened to her on the show? or is this like "the missing year" of LOST?

AC, I'm listening to the podcast for last week's episode and the producers say basically that the monster downloaded info from Eko the first time in Psalm 23, to use at a later date. They also suggest that maybe everybody on the island is there to be judged...but that's not certain. Interesting.

where do you get the podcasts from? i only found 4 of them because someone uploaded them. i have not heard another podcast since before summer.

i just saw the last episode. now that's one hell of a cliffhanger. Kate and Sawyer can't run unless they find a boat. i still can't get my head around these Others. especially because of Ethan. unless they've been fed that outsiders are all bad since birth. it was too bad the episode didn't progress enough to give us more hints like last week's. this week was all drama. also, i was disappointed in the flashback it was pure filler.

Definitely listen to all of them, they're about 20min long except one which is 6. I haven't listened to all of them just yet, but I can see that I'll be doing it regularly now.

There are different factions of the Others, as told by the producers and implied in the show. Obviously some of them disagree w/others on certain aspects.

The flashback was kinda filler, but seeing how Kate <3's Sawyer, I guess it was valid to put another flashback on her love life/past. What I find strange is why she called the Marshall to stop following her instead of just remaining quiet about having settled down.

I was hoping for more Locke stuff in that episode, but I guess we'll hafta wait. Anyway, the podcasts say we'll get to see Cindy and the children from the tail section again, I think in episode 8. Really cool stuff.

Perhaps, but pure filler with Nathan Fillion.  Thus, it was awesome.  (Plus, I'm thinking he'll show up again eventually, either in Island/Monster form, or in reality - so it may prove important yet)

Well, I just thought that she felt like she needed someone to set her straight - I very much doubt she actually believed she could just call him and say "hey, stop chasing me plz" and he'd be like, "welllll... okay, I guess".  She just needed an excuse to run away.
Personally, I wish they had gone with flashbacks that gave a bit more background info on that plane thing she had.  I don't remember exactly how much detail they went into about that already (I'll have to check lostpedia after posting, lol), but I know it's not really necessary that they ever say any more about it - it's just that, if they were gonna do a pointless flashback anyway...
But yeah, otherwise I thought it was a pretty strong episode to leave off on.  I just kind of wish they had decided to wait till like late Dec, early Jan to start airing this season in the first place, so we could've had the whole thing without any breaks (a la 24).  Ah well.

did you listen to the podcast where they explain that Jae's death indeed was a suicide? i thought that was funny.

i forgot to say that i totally loved Jack in this episode. when Ben was on the operating table asking question, Jack was just calm and scary... also, he didn't seem to give a f*** about Juliette's plan.

Yeah, a lotta people think Jack's a dick, but somehow I'm usually on his side. He could see right through everybody's plans to get him to do the surgery. At first when the machine started going off I thought that he was faking failure too soon, but when he punched one of the docs and then made his threat it was OH SHIT!!! Completely different plan.

As far as Jae's suicide, that's fine by me. I just liked the possibility that Sun coulda done it. This weekend I'll have a chance to listen to all the podcasts.

quick theory based on

"Shephard was not on Jacobs list."

an outside agenda is trying to find their way onto the Island.
The Others want to protect themselves and the Island from this outside threat.
Ethan and Goodwin wrote lists of everyone who survived the crash, the Others then collected extensive information on everyone who was on those lists and shared it with "Jacob".
Jacob may or may not be on the island. he could be their contact outside.
Jacob made a list of all the people from the other lists he knew was not a threat.
Jack Shephard was not on this list. however, Jack Sheppard is not a threat.
Libby was an agent for the outside agenda.
The Others are the islands protector.
The Island is an eden type island.

note: i heard originally Jack was going to die in the pilot episode but during a preview people didn't like it so he was kept in. that's the other reason he was not on the list since the creators always knew Jack isn't important in the long run.

Ben is an extended addition to the show just like Jack.
Kate and Sawyer are important to the project, Jack is only important to Ben.

Wow, there are a lotta good points in that post (though a lot I also don't necessarily agree with either). I think within the next few months I might be going thru seasons 1 and 2 again...every time i meet somebody new I have to get them into Lost.

i'm still not sold on his idea that there are more than one monster, though it certainly isn't impossible. it would, however, be pretty odd to call several "monsters" or "djinns" for Cerberus. also the thing about the dharma logo being a symbol to summon the monster sounds farfetched.

i do think he's on to something, especially since light and dark seem to be recurring themes.

i also thought the bonus info on Andrew Divoff (the eyepatch man) was very cool.

the second part of season 3 started yesterday, did anyone watch it yet?

i thought it was awesome. pretty much got everything on Juliet cleared up at last.

of course this thread is a spoiler for anyone who hasn't watched it yet, but you know that.

did anyone else think of A Clockwork Orange when they rescued Carl from the Hydra? i'm thinking he's been difficult taming so now they're forcing him to be "good" in order to protect him. it'll be interesting to see how the "monster" reacts to Carl when they get back. i'm thinking the monster will only see those images from the screen in that room when it tries to read him!

oh, and i'm glad we got rid of Picket too.
